What Finally Helped Me Feel Better In My Own Body

By Lauren Read

I never thought I’d be the kind of person who talked publicly about wellness — but here we are.

For years, I struggled with feeling out of sync. My energy felt low, my habits were inconsistent, and I didn’t feel confident in my body. I wasn’t aiming to look like a fitness model — I just wanted to feel better. Lighter, more awake, and more in tune with myself.

Me vs. My Own Routine — And What Shifted

One evening over tea, I was venting to a friend — someone who always seemed calm and energized. And she asked me something that stuck with me:

“What if it’s not about being perfect — but just feeling a little better than yesterday?”

That reframed everything.

I started reading more about wellness habits, nutritional patterns, and what “balance” actually looks like for a real person — not an influencer with a meal prep sponsorship.

The Things I Wish I Knew Earlier:

  • That feeling good isn’t about extremes — it’s about small, steady habits
  • That energy and mood are deeply connected to your routine
  • That supporting your body doesn’t have to mean overhauling your life
  • That the best results often come when you’re not obsessing

What Actually Helped

I simplified everything. No more 30-day challenges or “miracle hacks.” I started focusing on consistent meals, short walks, basic hydration, and choosing rest when I needed it.

And little by little, I began feeling like myself again. Not hyper-optimized. Just… good.

If you’re feeling stuck, tired, or unsure where to start — I hope this helps. You’re not alone, and it doesn’t have to be complicated. Most of the time, the best path forward is the one that feels calm and clear.

Because when you stop chasing perfection and start building trust with yourself — everything begins to shift.
